About the Mall

M.M.S.C opened in June 1992.  The shopping centre benefits from a strategic city centre retail location with main entrances on Northumberland Street and Blackett Street.  It also has direct links into the flagship Fenwick Department Store and the Monument Metro Station.  There are 15 retail units on four integrated levels that provide 125,000 sq. ft of retail shopping and twelve escalators and two lifts, which provide swift access to all levels.

Monument Mall Shopping Centre is owned by St. Martins Property Corporation (S.M.P.C.), which is the real estate company of the State of Kuwait.  S.M.P.C. is also an international development, investment and asset management company with a diverse portfolio of commercial property throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Asia.

S.M.P.C. was established in 1924 and has grown into one of the world’s leading property companies with a global portfolio of over 80 assets, with more than 1 million sq m of property worldwide.  Its head office in the United Kingdom is at Hay's Galleria, near London Bridge, overlooking the River Thames and City of London, Nigel Brown is the Managing Director of S.M.P.C., it employs approximately eighty-five staff and the company’s investment policy is focused on identifying trophy assets which offer the scope for excellent long term returns on investment.

Monument MallMonument Mall Shopping Centre is located in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, where Northumberland Street and Blackett Street meet.  It has been designed in a classical style to complement the superb historical architecture of Grey Street and Earl Greys Monument, which is situated directly in front of the entrance to Monument Mall from Blackett Street.  There is excellent access to Monument Mall via both Eldon Square and Haymarket bus stations.  Monument Mall is also serviced by Monument Metro station – the busiest station on the Tyne and Wear Metro Network.

Open seven days a week, Monument Mall Shopping Centre is set on three floors of stores made up of a mixture of national brands and smaller independent retailers offering a large range of products.  There are shops on the lower ground level, ground level and first floors and the whole of the top floor is a food court.  There are also public conveniences, toilets for visitors with a disability and baby changing facilities.
