The fashion chain Peacocks has signed up to Monument Mall in Newcastle, the shopping centre owned by international property investment and asset management company St Martins.
The store will be Peacocks’ first in Newcastle, taking an 11,500 sq ft unit on a ten year lease, and will act as a strong fashion anchor to the Northumberland Street entrance of the scheme. Peacocks chose to open their first store in Monument Mall, instead of taking a unit at the competing Eldon Square. Other stores at Monument Mall include TK Maxx, The Body Shop, Wallis and the Newcastle United FC shop.
Lisa Hartley, Senior Asset Manager for Retail at St Martins, said: “Peacocks represents a great addition to the choice of retail on offer at Monument Mall. The brand was chosen ahead of other interest in the unit because of its fashion offer. This is a great enhancement to the tenant mix at Monument Mall.”
Monument Mall benefits from a strategic city centre retail location with main entrances on Northumberland Street and Blackett Street. It also has direct links into the flagship Fenwick Department Store and the Monument Metro Station. There are 15 retail units on four integrated levels that provide 80,000 sq ft of retail.
CB Richard Ellis acted on behalf of St Martins.
